Manchester United transfer news Manchester United transfer rumours
With Fabio Capello’s side now out of the World Cup, attentions in England have already turned to the start of the new Premier League campaign; and in particular, which players Sir Alex Ferguson will be bringing to Manchester United this summer.
Rivals Manchester City have already sprung into action by announcing the capture of Valencia’s David Silva earlier today, and are also expected to confirm the arrival of Barcelona’s Yaya Toure very soon.
In order to remain competitive, United will have to splash the cash. Here’s a possible list of new arrivals fans can expect to see this August at Old Trafford:
Panathinaikos midfielder Sotiris Ninis is rumoured to have alerted the interest of the Red Devils after featuring for Greece at this summer’s World Cup finals. The rising star of Greek football is only 20, but is expected to command a fee of around £9.6 million.
Meanwhile, United are also thought to be keen on Paris St Germain midfielder Stéphane Sessègnon. The 26-year-old Benin international midfielder has been targeted by the Premier League giants, in a move which could pave the way for Brazilian midfielder Anderson to move in the opposite direction.
Exiled Argentina international, Esteban Cambiasso, had a fine season with Inter Milan last year; but may find himself surplus to requirements if new manager Rafael Benitez signs Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano. It’s believed that Ferguson is a keen admirer of the talented and experienced central midfielder, who could prove a perfect addition to the squad. Whether Benitez would want to do business for his former adversary is another matter, though.
And then there’s Raul. One of the greatest players in Real Madrid’s history may have entered the winter of his career, but is believed to be keen on a move to England. And after Michael Owen last summer, can this one really be ruled out?
Finally, Luis Fabiano has helped light up the World Cup with a series of stunning goals. It’s rumoured that the Brazilian hitman wants a move to either United or AC Milan. However, the 29-year-old is likely to command a huge fee from Sevilla. Having almost hit the big three zero, will Ferguson really part with a huge amount of cash for the ageing forward?
On the evidence of Dimitar Berbatov’s signing, it’s quite possible.
