Manchester United vs Chelsea: Sir Alex Ferguson accuses match officials for the loss at Stamford Bridge
Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that the match officials’ decisions cost his team three points against Chelsea last night. Sir Alex was not at all happy with the performance of Martin Atkinson after watching his team surrendering
a one goal lead at Stamford Bridge.
The United manager expressed his discontentment over Atkinson’s decisions both, for awarding the penalty to Chelsea and for not showing a red card to David Luiz, when he fouled http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736.
Sir Alex said, “The penalty kick was so soft. Deary me. But we played very well. It was a great performance by us. We didn't deserve that. That's three years in a row (at Stamford Bridge) referees' decisions have changed the game.”
Ferguson believes that David Luiz should have been sent off after his two rigorous fouls on Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney.
“It was incredible. Even before that he'd done Chicharito off the ball. He'd done him late. Nothing done, the referee's in front of it. He does Rooney clear as day, (the referee is) six yards from it, he doesn't do anything. That changed the game. These
are decisions that change the game. And he's going to be refereeing every week.” added the United boss.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s team was not at their best for the whole ninety minutes at Stamford Bridge. They played really well in the first half but faded away in the second. The Red Devils scored the first goal through Wayne Rooney, who scored his fifth goal in
as many games. The English striker scored from outside the penalty box on the 30th minute mark.
However, Chelsea bounced back in an outstanding manner. The Blues started the second half with a more attacking approach and kept on tormenting United’s defence. Carlo Ancelotti’s men were awarded for their impressive comeback and just after 10 minutes the
home side scored an equalizer through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542. The Brazilian scored from inside the penalty on a volley, which was also his first strike in Chelsea colours.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team started to put more pressure on the visitors and in the 79th minute http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097 stepped forward to take the spot
kick and the Englishman powered the ball into the roof of the net to score the winner.
Moreover, in the dying stages of the match, Manchester United skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
Manchester United's failure to gain even a single point against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 has put them within reach of second-place Arsenal. The Red Devils are currently leading the table with 60 points in 28 matches, while Arsenal, with a game in hand, are 2nd with
56 points. If Arsenal win their next game against Sunderland, they'll manage to close the gap on United to just 1 point, a rather worrying sign for the Red Devils.
