Manchester United took on Wigan in the Premier League, as the Red Devils looked to claim all three points, despite some of their key players picking up injuries earlier on in the week.
The match kicked off with United being awarded a penalty in the 4th minute of the game. Welbeck made the most of his situation and tumbled to the ground. As a result, the referee pointed to the spot.
Hernandez stepped up to take the resulting spot kick, but sent his effort into the keeper’s arms.
From there on, both the teams were playing a game of attack vs counter attack. United kept on attacking Wigan, and the visitors looked to take the game to United on the counter.
However, neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half, as both the teams headed into the tunnel with the score reading nil all.
In the second half, United went on to cause havoc in attack.
In the 52nd minute Scholes went on to meet a ball in the box and scored for the Red Devils on his 700th appearance for the club.
Hernandez then went on to make it two nil for United, as he scored for the home side. Buttner’s shot fell into the striker’s path and he carried the ball into the back of the net.
United were then leading by three goals to nil, as Buttner scored a third goal for the home side.
The full back darted to the front and brushed past his markers, he then went on to calmly smash a shot across the keeper and into the back of the net.
Then just when it seemed like the game was about to end, United scored a fourth and final goal in the game.
Powell collected a loose ball just outside the area and went on to smash a effort from range past the keeper and into the back of the net.
As a result, United went on to win their game by four goals to nil, as they claimed all three points from the game.
