Manchester United want to skip Bayern Munich test in the Champions League
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Switzerland-c3016 national team manager Ottmar Hitzfeld has revealed Manchester United’s desire to avoid Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Hitzfeld recently had a meeting with the United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, where he expressed his opinion on the Bundesliga
giants.
Bayern Munich are currently enjoying a perfect run and find themselves on top of both the Bundesliga and their Champions League group. The Bavarian giants have also scored heavily this term like United, who scored eight against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 in a single game at
Old Trafford.
However, United have been under the pump recently after losing 6-1 to arch rivals, Manchester City, at home.
Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 admitted of Bayern’s dominance this season and wished not to meet them in the European competition. He believes that his team’s defence might not be as good as Bayern’s and therefore it would be appropriate to avoid them for as long as possible.
The Swiss coach also reserved praise for the German club, tipping them as one of the favourites to win Champions League. The former Bayern manager also hailed the current boss, Jupp Heynckes, for having an outstanding stint until now.
Bayern have only lost twice so far this season with both losses coming in the Bundesliga. The Reds played a 1-1 draw at Napoli in their last Champions League game which disturbed their one hundred percent record in the competition.
The Red Devils, though, have lost only once compared to Bayern but still haven’t been at their best. United are second to Benfica in the Champions League Group C with five points from three games. Ferguson’s men have managed only one win to go along with
two draws in the competition so far.
When asked about Arjen Robben’s future at Allianz-Arena, Ottmar reckoned that the Dutchman is essential to Bayern’s chances and the officials should stay patient over his fitness.
He further added, "Robben is really important. With him, they are unpredictable and have a more decisive weapon.”
The former striker concluded by saying, "In the mean streets of Naples, 1-1 is a good result. Bayern dominated http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 away. Rarely have I seen a team so dominant in the Champions League and the Bundesliga. This we saw against Manchester City."
