Manchester United goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 De Gea is set to undergo eye surgery after the end of the season, but just in time to be eligible for the London 2012 Olympics.
Spanish international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463 went on to sign for Manchester United from Atletico Madrid at the start of the season. The goal keepers transfer cost United a fee of around eighteen million pounds.
Prior to his move to United, De Gea was supposed to have a laser eye surgery which would cure him of his long sightedness. However, his doctors suggested that the keeper wait for his medication to stabilise before thinking of getting the surgery done.
As a result, every time the keeper steps onto the pitch, he wears contact lenses. However, these lenses have caused him a problem or two in the past and have seen the keeper concede goals through some very tame shots.
Due to this reason, the keeper has been criticized on a number of occasions and has been dropped to the bench for the last three games.
In order to prevent his sight from affecting his career, the keeper recently went ahead and consulted some professionals in Manchester about his problem. It has now been concluded, that the keeper is ready to have the surgery, but will wait for the season
to come to an end in order to do so.
Should things go according to the plan that has been laid out for the keeper, then he should be fit in time to play for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 in the London 2012 Olympics.
Nonetheless, the keeper is more than likely going to miss out on the opportunity to play or Spain in the Euro 2012.
It is rather remarkable for a keeper like De Gea to have such a serious problem and not get the proper treatment before making a move to Manchester United.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson might have initially thought it wouldn’t be that big a problem, but has now seen its consequences and is hoping to remedy the situation and save the keeper’s career with this surgery.
Once the keeper is back after the summers, he is more than likely to step his game up and secure a starting role at Old Trafford.
