Manchester United’s Dimitar Berbatov might be available for transfer window
Will Dimitar Berbatov be able to regain his lost pace? Will he be able to perform like a true superstar? These are the questions that Manchester United fans have been asking for the past few months. Whether it’s the media or the manager of the club, they are all concerned about Berbatov’s form and now the question of his appearance in the starting line-up is in question and according to experts, his lack of goal-scoring form will be considered in making the crucial decision about his further appearances in United by the Big Boss himself, Sir Alex Ferguson.
Having said that, a large number of fans around the world are of the opinion that he is going through a bad patch (happens with every footballer during his career), but they do want to see him the play the game that the Bulgarian is capable of. During his last season appearances, Berbatov scored 12 goals in 33 league appearances. He scored six goals at start of the season including a brilliant hat-trick against Liverpool that helped them gained 3 important points. But this season he has gone barely unnoticed without even scoring a single goal. The striker is even under greater pressure since the return of Wayne Rooney.
A classy player like Berbatov should be given time to recover from the tremendous pressure he’s in, but since he holds an important position in the starting eleven, gambling over him for such a long period is now turning into more of just that - gambling. With such projection of his image, rumours have started to invade the press about his transfer from Manchester United into another club. How would these rumours affect his resale value is another question hanging in the news. Shocking as though this news is, under the light of the facts and stats of his game, these questions seem to be more reasonable rather than an excuse to throw away such a valuable player.
Berbatov is a player who needs support and coordination with other players but what teams need is a player who can have an individual impact on the game and can perform if left alone as a striker. Berbatov is surely missing that touch. His performance during the clash against Rangers can be considered as a failure to perform with regard to the chances he got; he missed every single time!
With Rooney out of the team for a considerable period, he should have performed to fix his mistakes and regain the form which he is capable of and could have acted more responsibly to quiet the voices rising against him and lower the fingers being pointed at him. Although fans are still praying for his ‘recovery’, 14 goals in 43 games is just a disgrace. Statistics never lie and there is a serious risk to his career. One can just hope for a miracle; otherwise, the Red Devils’ boss will definitely be considering him to be available for the next transfer window.
