Manchester United’s Michael Carrick fires off warning to Premier League challengers

Though the Red Devils are set to finish the season with two more trophies for their cabinet, they have not performed with their usual dominant style. Pundits claim that the current United squad is one of the weakest in recent memory. However, midfielder
Michael Carrick believes that is an unfair assertion.
Carrick believes that a side’s quality is based on what they are able to win. Speaking on the matter, he said, “We haven't won anything yet, and you know that here greatness is judged on what you win, so it's difficult to rate this current team at the moment.
You have to win things and keep winning to be considered a great side - but if you take the European (Champions League) game against Schalke, it was one of our best performances in a long, long time.”
He added, “When you take into account the circumstances, the fact it was a semi-final and normally how tight they are, then in that respect it shows you this current Manchester United team has real quality.”
Though this United side will go down in history as one of the more successful teams of the decade, Carrick believes that the best is still to come. The England international recently signed a new long-term contract with the Red Devils, and he has revealed
his excitement at being a part of a club which promises so much in the future.
Carrick concluded, “We hope - and believe - that no matter what we have done this season, the best is yet to come with this team. We always believe there is better around the corner here. This team will get better. To sign a new contract is a great feeling,
knowing that the club wants you to be part of that."
Manchester United currently sit at the summit of the Premier League standings with 73 points.
