Manchester United’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550 admits that Barcelona deserved to win the Champions League
Manchester United defender, Nemanja Vidic, has admitted that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 are worthy winners of the 2011 UEFA Champions League title. Vidic’s comments came just after his side’s defeat to the Spanish giants in the final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
Though Manchester United got off to a strong start, they were soon overrun by the rampant Barcelona. The Catalans endured sustained pressure in the opening 10 minutes, before launching an all-out assault at the United goal. The match ultimately finished
3-1 in Barca’s favour, and even that scoreline flatters Manchester United.
The Red Devils’ were completely out-played, a fact that Nemanja Vidic readily accepts. Speaking after the match, the United defender said, “I think if you look at it we have never played a team in the past like Barcelona, they played good football and deserved
to win. We tried to press high and in some parts of the game we did well. The goals we lost, we didn't do what we have to do to close their players down. When they have time on the ball they can make the final pass and that is what they did.”
Many believed that Manchester United manager, Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson, would be better equipped to beat Barcelona on Saturday, having seen his team lose 2-0 to the Spanish giants in the 2009 Champions League final in Rome. But it seems that Ferguson has not learned
from that defeat. The United boss got his tactics wrong once again, as Barcelona easily overcame Manchester United for the second time in three years to lift the coveted trophy.
Manchester United’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 believes that the Red Devils gave a better account of themselves than in the 2009 final, but he also had to concede that the better team won the match.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international said, “We gave it a better shot this time than last time (in Rome in 2009), we had a couple of opportunities. We have to give them credit. We had a game plan we thought could beat them, but wasn't to be."
