Manchester United’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231 hits back at critics as Red Devils edge closer to Premier League crown
Manchester United’s French full-back, Patrice Evra has gone on to call out all the critics, who went on to claim that the Red Devils were merely a mediocre club and didn’t have the capacity to pull off anything special this season.
The defender came forth and made these claims after his side went on to thump Schalke 04 and win their first-leg tie by two goals to nil. The score-line in all honesty would have been a lot worse, had it not been for the heroics of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424 in between
the posts for the German club.
The defender then went on recall what the critics had said about the Red Devils, way back in October and went on to state, "I remember before the home game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bursaspor-c38700 [last October], which we won 1-0, people were saying it was the end of the empire,
the end of Manchester United, the worst team ever. I said, 'Sometimes you have to pay the musician at the end of the show, not before'."
Nonetheless, following his team’s emphatic performance, the player now feels that the only thing standing in his squad's way of reaching the finals at Wembley and keeping his side on track for the double, is the Red Devils themselves. The player feels that
should his squad not get complacent or show their opponents too much respect in the second-leg, they are a sure shot to walk their way to the final.
Evra then went on to state, that going into the game, the players had a very positive mindset. "We are not playing against Schalke, we are playing to reach the final," added the defender.
At the moment, most experts are blindly agreeing with Evra. Manchester United, despite possessing their weakest squad in recent history (on paper), seem to be performing at a level that no one deemed possible at the start of the season. The team has gone
on to pull of miraculous come-backs and have kept almost everyone competing with them at bay.
Apart from the UEFA Champions League, the team is currently edging close to lifting the English Premiership at the end of the season, which would be their 19th English Premier League title. With this squad, no one would have even thought of the team being
in contention for the title, but with Alex Ferguson being back to his best and the squad delivering on all fronts, this season could go down as one of the best displays of heart and spirit in United’s history as a football club.
