Manchester United’s Patrice Evra still wary of Schalke 04 threat: UEFA Champions League
Manchester United’s French full-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231 has gone on to state that he doesn’t think the Red Devils should start counting their chickens just yet, since the second-leg of the team’s UEFA Champions League tie with Schalke 04 is still left to play.
Should United manage to go on to beat Schalke in the second-leg at Old Trafford next week, the team would be in line to play their third Champions League final, in just four years. Despite everyone already ruling out the German club after they went two goals
down to United in the first-leg, Evra is taking the cautious route, mainly due to his past experience in the tournament.
When talking about how he felt about the situation, Evra is reported to have said, "In football you never know. I remember playing for Monaco in the 2004 quarter-final and we played in the Bernabeu against Real Madrid and lost 4-2. Real thought they were
going into the semi-final. They thought they were there already. But in the second leg we won 3-1 and went through."
The player then went on to state that United had to be as professional about the situation as they could and if the team was to give it their all, then they would be more than likely to make the final. However, the player also stated that if they were to
fall out of the Champions League at this point, it would be nothing short of a disaster for the team.
The Frenchman then went on to add, "We have to be as professional next week as we were on Tuesday night and keep going. We have to win at Old Trafford. But I must say if we don't go through to the final now then it would be a disaster for Man United."
Despite Evra taking such a professional and cautious route, when planning the future, everyone is almost a hundred percent sure about the fact that United will be able to make it to the finals of the Champions League.
Throughout the game last night, United seemed to be in a league of their own and it often looked like the team was out there practicing instead of playing a competitive fixture. Schalke, just didn’t seem to have any response for the brilliance that United
were displaying and were left from being humiliated by the Red Devils due to the commanding performance that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424, Schalke's goalkeeper.
With a nil all draw also looking to work in the Red Devils' favour, it would be safe to bet your house on United making it through to the finals of the Champions League – once again.
