Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand believes that Gerard Pique was wise to leave Old Trafford
Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has claimed that Gerard Pique would not be enjoying his current success had he chosen to remain at Old Trafford three years ago. Pique, who is currently with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, played for the Red Devils from 2004 to 2008.
Gerard Pique was largely anonymous during his four-year spell in Barclays Premier League. The defender managed to chalk up only 23 appearances for the Red Devils. However, Spanish giants Barcelona recognized the youngster’s talents, and the Catalans rescued
him from his Old Trafford purgatory by signing him in the summer of 2008.
The change of scenery has done wonders for Pique.
Within a year of his move, the defender established himself as a mainstay in the Barcelona starting eleven. He was a part of the team that defeated Manchester United in the 2009 Champions League final in Rome. Pique’s International career also took off with
his return to Spain. He was a part of the national squad which lifted the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Manchester United have not missed Gerard Pique too much though. The Red Devils have once again proven their dominance on English football by winning the 2010/11 Barclays Premier League title.
