Manchester United’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985: ‘Nothing can be taken for granted’
Manchester United’s Ryan Giggs has warned his side against complacency after his side’s win over Sunderland FC.
United remain unbeaten in the league this season after dispatching Sunderland by a convincing 2-0 win at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Giggs believes that his team should not take their excellent run of form for granted and should try to remain focused on the fixtures that await them.
The Welshman also was of the opinion that no team in the league should be considered as “easy opposition”.
He said, “You are obviously wary because of the way the league has been this year. Anyone can beat anyone. We are thankful we remain unbeaten and confidence is high. But we realise that nothing can be taken for granted. It is a tough league and we need to
be at our best in every game.”
United have won all of their last 4 matches convincingly, a win over title-challengers and arch rivals Arsenal FC is amongst the victories they recorded in December.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are likely to enter the New Year as league leaders. They are also known to grow stronger in the latter half of the season, from January till May.
Giggs, who has won 11 English Premier League titles at Old Trafford in his 20 years’ stay, said, "We hope to get better in the second half of the season. Our form over the last few weeks has been really good. We looked sharp against Arsenal and Blackburn,
and it was the same against Sunderland. Some of the play we produced, the one-touch passing and the movement, was great to be involved in."
Ryan was given a rare start against Sunderland and the 37-year-old veteran was instrumental in the build-up to his side’s goals.
Manchester United now travel to St. Andrews to face Birmingham City on Tuesday. A win against Birmingham could result in a 5 point lead at the top of the pile for United.
Arsenal FC are 2nd in the table and 2 behind the leaders, with 35 points. However, the Gunners have played a game more than their Manchester rivals.
The north-Londoners climbed to 2nd place in the table, after they beat Chelsea FC 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
The defeat at Emirates continued http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786’s winless streak to 6 matches. The Blues have the worst record in the Premier League in the last 6 games; they have just scored 3 points off the possible 18.
