Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney hits out at Manchester City following Community Shield win
Manchester United striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 has gone on to hit out at arch rivals Manchester City, following United’s win over City in the Community Shield.
Manchester City went on to take an early lead in the game, as they went two goal to nil up in the first half. However, the second half was all about United. The Red Devils came out of the tunnel, with all guns blazing and put three past City, to take home
the Community Shield.
Rooney, when talking about the game is quoted to have said: "This shows who the best team is - all game we dominated”
The striker then talked about City and how they only had five minutes in which they did anything on the pitch. He then mentioned that United created the better chances and had proven that they were the team to beat.
"They had five minutes where they scored two goals, and that was about it.”
"The scoreline is deserved because of our passing, and the brilliant chances we created. We are champions and we are the team to beat - we need to go out and prove that.”
The striker then ended by crediting his entire team for the brilliant performance and showed a strong sense of optimism as he added that title number twenty, could soon be on its way to Old Trafford.
Rooney then ended by stating: "Full credit to the whole team, that's our attitude. We never know when a game is finished. We hope title number 20 will come. But it's a long season and there's a lot of good teams in the league. Our main aim is to win that
title again."
Nonetheless, the United striker didn’t quite finish leaving comments till much later on. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international took to his Twitter account following the game and stated that the game was nothing short of being a footballing lesson.
So far no actions are being taken against Rooney and his bashing of City. That being said, Rooney seems to be spot on with his comments regarding City. Despite the team going up by two goals to nil, they should have tried to extend their lead over their
rivals. However, they opted to take the foot off the gas in the second half and this ended up costing them a trophy.
With the Community Shield now over, City and United are both going to be looking to the coming season, in hopes to get the better of their opponents, the next time they meet.
