David Gill, Manchester United’s chief executive has come out and stated that UEFA’s financial fair play rules must be implemented properly and with the necessary sanctions to work in the world of club football come next season.
He spoke at length about the FFP rules and pressurized UEFA to take action in the future against club’s who break the FFP rules considering that they have the authority to do so. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Gill stated that UEFA needed to come up with the system in time to sanction
the clubs which go against the FFP rules as well.
UEFA revealed last Wednesday that they had decided to backtrack on their original plan of imposing a transfer ban on teams who break the FFP rules as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 Platini and co. were informed that it was beyond their jurisdiction to
take such an action due to the fact that the player registration and other factors related to signing footballers were FIFA’s responsibility rather than UFEA’s. However Gill stated that he is confident that UEFA will come up with a suitable mechanism to punish
the club’s who break FFP rules.
He explicitly stated, “I don’t think an official report has come by Uefa. I think Uefa, as I understand it, are currently looking at the sanctions they are going to impose in conjunction with the Financial Fair Play and I think
they will be decided and communicated in the first part of 2012.”
He added that if everyone recognizes that FFP rules have a certain set of goals behind them then it is going to be possible to apply the sanctions, whatever they may be. He also added that it should be worked out by UEFA who should
also take into account what the clubs have to say in such a matter when the decision making time comes around.
The latest set of talks at UEFA are now set to be aimed at finding a system which will work to punish those who don’t obey the FFP rules. Clubs such as Manchester City are already running at a heavy loss due to their excessive
spending in the summer transfer windows.
