Manchester United’s star defender Nemanja Vidic wants to retire at Old Trafford
Manchester United’s ace Serbian defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550 has gone on to express his desire to end his career as a professional footballer at Old Trafford.
The player came forth with these comments amidst a number of rumours that he might soon be on his way to another league. The twenty-nine year old defender was named captain of the club at the start of the season and he also went on to extend his contract
with the club for another four years, as a result it is now safe to say that Vidic is going to see out his playing days as a Red Devil.
When talking to the press regarding his future, a rather blatant Vidic is reported to have said:
"I hope to spend the rest of my career here at United. I heard the speculation about me maybe leaving last year, but I know where I want to be and I have shown my commitment to the club. I have given the best years of my career to this club and the talk
about me leaving here was never correct. I always give my best. Of course, sometimes you have good and bad days, but I think I always try to give 100 per cent - and especially now I have that armband and the responsibility that goes with it. I'm definitely
here for the rest of my career now.
It never came from my mouth that I would be leaving United. I love it here and I think I show that on the pitch".
So far in his career with the team, Vidic has gone on to make two hundred and twenty-six appearances for the team and has even managed to score seventeen goals along the way.
The defender was snapped up in 2005 from Spartak Moscow and ever since arriving at the club, he went on to cement his place in the team. Vidic impressed early on with his ability to read the oppositions play and then break it up superbly and his ability
to get ahead of strikers and win almost every defensive header that he competes for just add to his brilliance.
The player also has great composure during pressured situations at the back and that proved to be one of the reasons for him being named captain of United.
Vidic is easily one of the most feared and sought after defenders in the world of football today and almost every manager would love to have a Vidic on their team. Nonetheless, with United now almost being assured of the fact that their wall of a defender
is going to be with them for the next six to seven seasons, they are going to be sleeping easy knowing that they won’t be running into a defensive crisis in the near future.
