  1. emigrate

  2. Manchester is my home town and I would say, living in Canada, that you need to stop complaining and use the wonderful bus system, trains, metro and stop the congestion on the roads.  Believe me I wish I could take the bus to work but here the infrastructure sucks and it is not possible.  Gas prices are up to $60 per week now and rising.  I would love it if I had the choices you have in Manchester and by the way - greatest city in the world!

  3. If you don't pay, they would have the power to sieze your car. You would then have to pay the recovery and storage costs of £105 and then £5 a day in addition to the original congestion charge. If you still don't pay, they can crush or sell the car.

  4. It's just been announced there will be a referendum on this issue, personally it doesn't bother me too much-it will stop people making unnecessary journeys into the City Centre which is already congested enough, the money will be ploughed into making the public transport system better (although it's good enough now for most peoples needs) which in turn will encourage more people to stop using their gas guzzling cars or to at least car pool.Something needs to be done about the traffic entering City Centre and I suppose this is one way to control it.To me it will be worth paying the charge if it works.

  5. I think there should be a charge on the school run, as one who lives and drives in Manchester, when the schools are off the roads are clear, a system of buses to pick up the kids would sort a lot of this out

  6. There will be a referendum, vote no.

  7. You're completely missing the point, mate. There is a very good reason for a congestion charge (I'm not coming down on one side or the other, I'm just stating a fact).

The congestion charge will be implemented in the rush hours, when there are the most cars on the road. The money will be used to improve the tram, bus and train services, in other words to remove more cars from the roads, reduce pollution, and make the city a better, cleaner and safer place.

Whether you're paying through the a*se is a matter for debate, but you're certainly talking out of it!

    In London,

  8. It doesn't work trust me, it's a cash cow.

  10. just do not go to manchester
