Hi at all!

I would like to find a job in Manchester area and I'd know how far I can search a job in the Great Manchester area, without being too much far from Manchester (where I'm going to search home)?

On wikipedia it results that G M "comprises ten metropolitan boroughs: Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan, and the cities of Salford and Manchester"

How is the transport system? How much is it easy to reach Manchester from these cities?

And later, which is a good neighborhood in Manchester to find home to live? with facilities and also an area from which is easy to move?

Thanks

  1. It's a very big city and unfortunately until they extend the tram system which is currently being discussed, public transport isn't that good. Young areas with good pubs and character -  West Didsbury - very nice but also expensive, Withington, Fallowfield (very studenty but also lively), Rusholme is cheap but it is near the city centre and Chorlton is OK. Theres millions of buses to all these areas. Apart from these areas the rest of central Manchester isn't that good and you would have to live in one of the suburbs unless you can afford a city centre apartment.

  2. Well I can tell you about Stockport. I live in Heaton Mersey, which is about 10 minutes from the the town centre (stockport not manchester) and the transport system is very good I think.

There are quite a few train stations in Stockport, as well as the main one in the town centre, so wherever you live within Stockport, you'd probably only be about 10/20 minutes away from one. The train to Man. City Centre takes about 10 minutes.

There are plenty of frequent buses, again, wherever you live. Mine is the 42 which comes every 5/10 minutes and takes about 40 minutes to get to Manchester City Centre.

We have pretty much everything that Manchester does, only on a slightly smaller scale obviously. However, I am only 16 so I imagine the facilities I use are a bit different to yours, dossing in parks etc... :P But my 23 year old brother and my parents both manage to keep themselves amused.

My area is a really good one. Lots going on, la de da, you can imagine...

    Hope this helps some.

  3. Chorlton is amahhhhzinggg
