Mancienne loaned to Wolves, Salcido Joins Fulham and Ibrahimovic could be a Milan player by tomorrow
Chelsea football club have confirmed that versatile midfielder Maicael Mancienne has been loaned out to Wolves for another season.
Mancienner had spent the entire 2009-10 campaign at the Molineux and was used as both a midfielder and a defender in the 33 appearances that he made for the club. The first time Mancienne joined Wolves on loan was back in 2008 when the England Under -21 international made 10 appearances for the club and helped the achieve promotion to the Premier League. Mancienne will go straight into the squad that is all set to face Newcastle United this coming Saturday.
He has 21 caps for the national Under-21 side and has scored once for the three lions. Mancienne was also named in Capello’s senior squad to face the Germans in Berlin but couldn’t feature in the match. To date, he has only made six appearances for the London Blues but is under contract with them for another three years. Another transfer deal that went through today was of PSV Eindhoven’s Mexican international Carlos Salcido. Salcido has joined the Craven Cottage outfit for a fee that is believed to be in the region of 2 million pounds.
Now that Fulham have secured the services of a defender, they might let the Liverpool target Paul Konchesky go to Anfield. Liverpool have been looking for a left back for quite a while now as they only have Fabio Aurelio as a specialist left wingback in their squad and desperately need a back up and their isn’t a cheaper option available in the market than Konshesky. Salcido is Fulham’s second signing in as many weeks as last week they had announced the signature of Rafik Halliche from Benfica for an undisclosed amount of fee.
In some other transfer news, Barcelona misfit Zalatan Ibrahimovic is all set to return to Italy with the Milan giants AC keen on the signature of scintillating Swede. According to Adriano Gilliani, the Vice President of AC Milan, there are already talks going on between the two clubs and the Italians remain confident of landing the striker. The best part of the deal is that all parties involved are interested in the deal going ahead, as Barcelona, Ibra and AC Milan all want the deal to be concluded as soon as possible. Ibrahimovic, only signed for the Blaugranas in 2009 for 35 million pounds from Internazionale a deal that also saw Samuel Eto going the other way. But after the arrival of David Villa from Valencia for only 24 million pounds, the Swede is deemed as surplus to requirements at the club.
Ibra has failed to emulate his goal scoring feat in Spain and couldn’t settle in the squad as Joseph Guardiola would have liked him to and it was his unsettlement at the club that forced Guardiola’s hand into looking for a replacement. Villa is more than an ample replacement for the Swede as he is the only striker in Spain and also in the world who has scored 25 or more goals in each of the last five seasons and was the top scorer in the Spanish La Liga for two of those five seasons.
The Rosseneri representatives are already in the capital of Catalunya, where AC and Barca played in a friendly over the weekend, the game ended in a 1-1 draw with Villa scoring for the hosts while the veteran Pippo Inzaghi bagging the goal for the Italians. Gilliani has told media that he is set to meet Sandro Rossel, the President of FC Barcelona at noon on Thursday and hopes that the deal will be concluded in the meeting.
