Manchester City manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Mancini has insisted that some of his players are still a couple of weeks away from regaining full fitness and think that this could cause a problem in the coming season.
City are set to take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in a Community Shield game, which will see them begin the Premier League season against Southampton.
Despite the opening game of the season not being the toughest of the season for the team, Mancini still has a number of concerns about the fitness of his players.
The Italian manager feels that some of his star players still lack fitness, while others haven’t managed to fully recover from their participation in the Euro 2012.
Despite that fact, the manager is hoping to be able to get the best out of his team, while having the option of rotating his squad to ensure everyone is back at a hundred percent in the near future.
"The games against Oldham and Limerick were very important, but I think we need another three or four weeks for these players to get back to full fitness," http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 told the club's
official website.
"We will all need to work very hard at Carrington. We will start to work together, the whole team together as we prepare for the season ahead.”
"For us it was important that the players play in the European Championship, but they needed a month to recover because last season was very hard and this season will be very long."
Last season City went on to win the Premier League title after failing to claim the league title in over forty years.
One of the prime reasons for the team being able to perform so well, was down to the fact that they did not have any international duties to take part in, apart from the African Cup of Nations. The AFCON saw the Toure brothers leave the team, apart from
which City were at full strength.
Nonetheless, should Mancini be able to rotate his squad over the coming month, he shouldn’t suffer from a lot of fitness problems this coming season.
