Mancini claims Premier League teams scared off City
Manchester City’s manager Roberto Mancini strongly believes that all the big teams in the English Premier League are scared of him and City, because of the fact that they might possess the best squad money can buy at this moment in time.
With Manchester City completing the signing of Lazio full back, Aleksandar Kolarov, they managed to spend a total of around eighty million pounds this summer. However they have not by any means planned to stop right there, since in the near future they plan on making some more big money moves for Aston Villa’s highly rated midfielder, James Milner, Inter Milan’s prodigy, Mario Balotelli and for Liverpool want away and prolific goal scorer, Fernando Torres.
Ever since Roberto Mancini was put in charge at the club around seven months ago, City have managed to spend more money than the top fourteen teams in the English Premier League combined.
Roberto Mancini strongly feels, that the rest of the teams in the Premier League and in some cases the rest of the world are scared of how Mancini has made City so strong and almost invincible. He also said that he strongly believed that this would be the season when Manchester City would be serious contenders for the title of Champions of England.
In an interview with The Sun he was reported to have said, "Are they scared? I think so. At the moment only Manchester City are buying players,”"But that is normal because Manchester City want to improve and the other teams are just big teams who would like a lot of people".
"All the other teams are trying to put pressure on us because for 10 years there were only four teams challenging for the title".
"This year, there are five. I think all these teams over the years have spent a lot of money".
"Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool but now City do. There isn't a difference."
He strongly believes that this outrageous approach and money spending will ultimately result in silverware for a club that hasn’t won any major title in what seems like forever to the fans of the club. He went on to say, "We have a big opportunity to win the league if we believe in ourselves and do our jobs. We have improved as a team.
"It depends if we can put together a team in the short time available. In my experience, I know after the World Cup in every country there can be a different situation in the league."
"If you remember a few years ago Manchester City were in the Championship, then it is clear every year we must improve."
"Last year, we fought for fourth place until the penultimate game against Tottenham - the aim this year is to try to win the Premier League. That must be our target.”
This just shows that Mancini possesses a high level of optimism because even though he finished fourth with City last term, he still strongly believes that the team has the capability of going all the way this time around. This optimistic approach might just result in the team doing just that.
