Roberto Mancini has come out and admitted that he is to be blamed for Manchester City’s exit from the Europa League as Manchester City failed to get the desired result against Sporting Lisbon. In the first leg of their round of
sixteen tie against the Portuguese giants, City failed to make an impact as Sporting gained a 1-0 win at their home stadium before scoring first at the Etihad stadium as well in the second leg.
Mancini failed to adjust his team’s line up accordingly and Lisbon hit back with a second goal before Manchester City tried to play their way back into the encounter. In the end, it was a matter of too little too late for the Citizens
as Lisbon went through to the next stage and Manchester City were left dejected and disappointed in themselves.
Manchester City now face an uphill task of conquering Manchester United in the Premier League where they face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 next Wednesday but by that time United could have a four point lead on their rivals in the title race. Manchester
City’s 3-2 loss to Sporting Lisbon will be a lesson to Mancini and his men for next year.
The Italian tactician said, "In the first half we didn't play, but I am the manager and it's not the players' fault, but mine - I probably made a mistake. The players did everything, and fought on the pitch. When a manager doesn't
prepare well for the game, this happens. When I lose a game I think about why I lost and think about where I made mistakes.”
He added, "I understand we have big players but in football every game is difficult, and in the Europa League and Champions League it is more difficult, because every team plays to win. Sometimes we make mistakes, but the manager
is the person who always prepares the game, and I probably made some mistakes for these two games."
