The prolific Kings XI Punjab all-rounder, Mandeep Singh, is expecting their away game against table http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils to be one of the toughest contests of the season.
Speaking to the media reporters on Friday, the 20-year-old Jalandhar batsman said agreed that the Daredevils are a formidable line-up and who have been performing really well so far in the tournament.
The KXIP opener backed his team as well, saying they were equally in good touch and can outclass the table toppers, if they play to their potential.
"It's a kind of tough match for us. They are playing really well and are leading the points table,” said the 20-year-old right-handed batsman, who is the leading run scorer for Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 so far in the ongoing IPL-V. “But we are also equally in good
touch. If you play to your potential, you can beat the favourites on any given day. We just need to continue with the winning momentum," he added further.
The Punjab batsman has so far compiled 359 runs from 12 matches at an impressive strike rate of 124.65, including two half centuries as well.
Mandeep Singh termed Delhi Daredevils’ South African pace bowling import http://www.senore.com/Cricket/M-Morkel-c73528 as the biggest threat for his side and said that they need to contain the Proteas pacer during the initial overs.
"The strategy would be to prevent Morkel from building pressure during initial stages,” said the rookie all-rounder. “We need to play him well. Not to give him much of a chance of taking wickets. It would be good for us if we play him well right from the
start and put pressure on him," he added further.
Kings XI Punjab have so far played 12 games and with a fifty per cent win-loss ratio, they find themselves seventh on the standings, just above Pune http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861 and Deccan Chargers. They will play Delhi Daredevils on May 15 at latter’s home turf, Feroz Shah
Kotla stadium, Delhi.
