The prolific Kings XI Punjab opener, Mandeep Singh, is hopeful of making the playoffs of the ongoing season five of the lucrative Indian Premier League, if his side manages to win three of their remaining four league games.
Speaking to the media reporters on Friday, the 20-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 batsman said that they have been playing quite well this season and still have hopes of making the next round.
"We must win three of our remaining four matches. We are confident of making the play-off race," said the Kings XI Punjab, who has been quite consistent with the bat so far this season.
In Punjab’s previous game against Deccan Chargers, Mandeep Singh played a tremendous knock of 75 runs from just 48 balls, plundering eight muscular boundaries and three lofty sixes, to steer the side to a competitive total of 170 for 5. During the half century
knock, the right-hander was seen playing a lot of pull shots against the Deccan bowlers. When asked about the pull-shots, Singh said that before coming into the tournament he had worked hard on facing short-pitched deliveries and the shots were played intentionally.
"Before coming into this tournament, I was aware of the fact that I would be facing a lot of short balls. I have to be good against the short balls,” said the 20-year-old Jalandhar batsman, who is the leading run scorer for Kings XI with 359 runs in 12 appearances
so far.
“Since international bowlers feel that batsmen from this part of the world are susceptible to short-pitched stuff, I had purposefully worked hard on perfecting the horizontal bat shots," he added further.
With six wins and an equal number of losses in 12 outings, the Kings XI Punjab find themselves seventh on the IPL-5 standings. They will next play table http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils in an away game at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on May 15. Mandeep conceded
that the Daredevils are a formidable line-up and it will be tough playing against them.
"It's a kind of tough match for us. They are playing really well and are leading the points table but we are also equally in good touch.”
