Mandy Loots claims Women’s 200m butterfly: Day six – 2011 All African Games
Day six of the 2011 All African Games got off to a flying start at the Zimpeto National Stadium, in Maputo, Mozambique, on Saturday, September 10. The session of the meet conducted the Women’s 200m butterfly, Men’s 50m freestyle and Men’s 200m Individual
Medley final heats.
At the beginning, Mandy Loots of South Africa came out vibrantly and snagged the gold medal in the Women’s 200m butterfly final heat after she touched the finishing blockade and ended her swim with a victorious mark of 2 minutes and 12.46 seconds. After
the race, Loots was pleased and jubilant with her swim.
In the corresponding race, Bianca Meyer of South Africa took home silver medal on the podium by posting a winning time of 2 minutes and 16.66 seconds, whereas, Sarah Hadj of Algeria secured the bronze medal of the platform by submitting a matchless time
of 2 minutes and 20.61 seconds.
Secondly, the Women’s Men’s 50m freestyle crown was clinched by Gideon Louw of South Africa with a triumphant mark of 22.34 seconds. In the corresponding splash, David Dunford of Kenya snared silver medal on the podium by posting a stunning time of 22.71
seconds, while Jason Dunford took home the bronze medal with an impressive mark of 22.87 seconds.
Last, but not the least, the Men’s 200m Individual Medley title was taken over by Chad Le Clos of South Africa with an immaculate time of 2 minutes and 00.70 seconds. Meanwhile, Darian Townsend of South Africa earned silver medal on the podium by submitting
a matchless time of 2 minutes and 01.76 seconds.
Taki Mrabet of Tunisia grabbed bronze medal on the podium after he touched the finishing wall in the respective meet and posted an intriguing time of 2 minutes and 03.46 seconds. While speaking about his swim, Townsend commented that he was really happy
with his splash in the pool.
The arena applauded for the sensational swims of all swimmers, while the winners were awarded with medals and accolades for their efforts after the session’s completion.
