Mandy Loots claims Women’s 200m butterfly gold: Day five - South African LC Nationals
Mandy T Loots of CGA-CG claimed gold medal of Women’s 200m butterfly on day five of the South African Long Course Nationals at the KZN Aquatic-Kings Park Centre in Durban on Friday, April 20.
The 33-year-old Loots stifled hopes of her challengers by securing top spot on the podium for gold medal. Her alluring effort placed her in a comfortable lead over her challengers and she faced no difficulty in snaring gold medal of the event.
Loots stunned the aquatic crowd by seizing gold medal of the event with a meticulous effort of 2 minutes and 12.49 seconds for gold medal. Her effort was trailed by Bianca J Meyer of KZNA-KZ, who stayed almost four seconds slower from her former finisher and stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 16.53 seconds.
The 23-year-old Meyer was trailed by Lisa Cowling of WPA-WP, who remained nearly six seconds slower from the second position holder and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 22.52 seconds for bronze medal.
The 18-year-old Cowling was trailed by Jessica S Liss of EP-EP, who stayed nearly 0.80 seconds behind and occupied fourth position of the discipline by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 23.30 seconds.
The 16-year-old Liss was followed by Megan Stephens of CGA-CG, who earned fifth position of the discipline by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 23.37 seconds for fifth position.
The 21-year-old Stephens was trailed by Samantha Gunther, who remained nearly three seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing blockade for sixth position by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 26.28 seconds.
Gunther was chased by Dominic Dryding of WPA-WP, who obtained seventh best finishing spot of the event by producing a time of 2 minutes and 26.37 seconds.
The 19-year-old Dryding was chased by Mu’mi Connelly of EP-EP, who secured eighth position of the event by clocking 2 minutes and 26.39 seconds.
Furthermore, the session ended after the conclusion of all listed events whereas the podium finishers received awards and accolades for their efforts after the session.
