Mandy Loots wins Women’s 200m butterfly title at 2011 All African Games: Day six - Recap
Day six of the 2011 All African Games commenced in stunning fashion at Zimpeto National Stadium, in Maputo, Mozambique, on Saturday, September 10. The session of the competition held Women’s 200m butterfly, Men’s 50m freestyle and Men’s 200m Individual Medley
final races.
Initially, Mandy Loots of South Africa hit the wall in 2 minutes and 12.46 seconds to win the Women’s 200m butterfly title on the podium. After the swim, Loots was over the moon due to her impressive performance in the competition. In the corresponding swim,
Bianca Meyer of South Africa secured silver medal on the podium by submitting a captivating time of 2 minutes and 16.66 seconds. Meanwhile, Sarah Hadj of Algeria took home the bronze medal by posting a winning time of 2 minutes and 20.61 seconds.
In the meantime, the Women’s Men’s 50m freestyle title was taken over by Gideon Louw of South Africa with a victorious time of 22.34 seconds. In the corresponding race, David Dunford of Kenya secured silver medal on the podium by submitting an eye catching
time of 22.71 seconds. On the other hand, Jason Dunford captured bronze medal on the podium by posting an inspiring time of 22.87 seconds.
The Men’s 200m Individual Medley crown was clinched by Chad Le Clos of South Africa with a spotless time of 2 minutes and 00.70 seconds. Darian Townsend of South Africa took home the silver medal on the podium by posting a unique time of 2 minutes and 01.76
seconds and Taki Mrabet of Tunisia snared the bronze medal by submitting an exciting time of 2 minutes and 03.46 seconds.
Additionally, South Africa’s Roxanne Tammadge took home the Women’s 1500m freestyle title of the platform by posting an appealing time of 17 minutes and 03.22 seconds. In the corresponding race, Melia Mghezzi of Algeria secured silver medal on the podium
by submitting a striking time of 17 minutes and 21.95 seconds, whereas, Seychelles' Shrone Austin settled for bronze title in a time of 17 minutes and 27.76 seconds.
The arena applauded for the astounding swims of all swimmers, while the winners were awarded medals and accolades after the session’s completion.
