  1. By far the background and scenery. SERIOUSLY. Characters are usually set to what they are, traits, attire, facial expressions. The manga-ka artist would know exactly where to place what on a sheet.

  2. Characters, as you still have to keep the face in perspective when the head turns or moves

Landscapes are just paintings that remain still (save for special effects, which are added in later)

  3. By far the background and scenery. SERIOUSLY. Characters are usually set to what they are, traits, attire, facial expressions. The manga-ka artist would know exactly where to place what  on a sheet.

but the background are more difficult- since the characters also have to fit and manipulate the background and the things around it. What I mean by that is.

If we have a close up on a character walking on sand, the artist has to focus on drawing the certain motion and the nature of both walking and the nature of that sand.

Everything has to function as they would in reality- [or in a sense in the manga's reality] since we can't have someone who is thrown half way across the panel without any signs of shred or tear, or even the "motion" of fabric emphasizing the speed and wind.

  4. depends on the background... I cannot draw buildings very well, nor trees. I have a hard time doing eyes and body figures on characters.

  5. the level of difficulty in drawing the characters in mangas and the background is the same.. because every detail should be proportionate and is drawn from the right angle..
