Question:

Manic Panic? Help? Bleech?

by  |  earlier

I do peoples hair, and my friend called me and wants me to dye her hair tonight. She used manic panic red to dye her hair, and she said it dyed it so red that it pretty much looks pink. The school principle told her she had to dye it. So she wants me to dye it brown. Do I need to bleech her hair, then put the brown, or will directly going to the brown first work?

  1. Brown over pink should work well enough without bleaching... just make sure it's at least a medium brown. The pink might show up over light brown.

If you're worried about ending up with a reddish tint, such as auburn, use an ash brown.

  2. either strip her hair and deep condition it then dye it.. which i would say is better.. or bleach it then dye it

  3. I would just put the brown over top. Might give her a funny colour, but it beats your hair falling out (trust me on this one), plus she won't get kicked out of school. =]

  4. dont bleech it or the hair will not take the brown color all too well and you may end up orange or yellow. Put the brown over the pink. Your school principal is uptight... i had pink hair in school and nobody ever told me i shouldnt.

  5. OMG don't bleach it! You might just have to strip it. That will take all the color out and you'll be able to start all over. But PLEASE read the directions, ask some people at the beauty supply store what they would recommend before you do it. You may mess it up... even end up with a bigger problem than you started with. just don't bleach it!

  6. Brown only. The bleach will just over process her hair. I did the exact same thing! I tried to bleach it too but it wouldnt pull the color out. So I died my hair brown and it worked. It still had a red cast too it but it looked way more natural

  7. strip it and dye it brown,

    without using the bleach.

  8. If you are going to Sallys you will need to get a tube of 5n or whatever brown she wants no lighter then 5, then you will get a tube of 6, next buy a developer that is 10 volume. Buy yourself a bowl, brush, gloves and pins to put hair in sections you should have 6 sections on the hair all the way do the middle of the head, across behind ears and one middle across. Start at the bottom applying the 6 to the strand should be no bigger then about 1/2 each. Apply 6 all over let sit about 20 mins. Wash out dry then apply 5 same way as 6 let sit about 20 mins wash out should be good oh be sure to apply to root last so they aren't bighter than the ends. h**l maybe you should bring her *** to a professional and this wouldn't have happned in the first place.

  9. I did the same thing.

I just dyed over it with a dark brown.

The pink went away and now in the sun my hair has a pretty reddish auburn natural look.

  10. i think go directly to brown, it may have a tinge of pink in it, if u rebleach it again, the hair will get more damaged and ur going darker, not lighter so going direct is better.

  11. did you bleach before dying pink? if so use a brown filler before dying brown.. if not just make sure the brown is darker than the red. how about dying it a really deep red? like a dark cherry/ brown

If you are not a professional dont try stripping her hair.

  12. That really depends on a lot of things. You may be able to go with just the brown if her hair is light enough of a pink. Re bleaching it is only gonna cause damage to her hair.

  13. Don't bleach it, the brown dye will cover the pink/red

  14. k-o her and shave it off then use the dye
