Manning to Miami: Fans campaign to urge Dolphins for Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton’s singing-NFL News
The Miami Dolphins have become the second franchise from the National Football League (NFL) whose fans are banking on an advertising campaign to influence the team to sign the most-talked-about quarterback, Peyton Manning.
A number of methods are featuring the campaign that is calling on the Peyton’s coming in Miami in case Colts do not accept him back due to the lingering issue of his health.
A similar drive was also initiated by Tennessee Titans’ fans, who had called for Peyton’s homecoming as he had played the college league in the city.
Just like Titans’, Miami’s fans have launched a website, manningtomiami.com, which is dually advertised on a billboard near the team’s office, urging the franchise to pursue the player’s deal.
All the fans have been requested to fill in and sign a form on the website, applying pressure on the management to take an initiative to bring Manning to Miami.
The hopes and wishes of a number of teams to sign the player have emerged in the face of growing uncertainty around his return to the Indianapolis Colts.
Miami, Titans and Jets are those teams who have explicitly desired to work out a deal for the quarterback if he becomes available in the market.
Many other teams, despite being interested in acquiring the player, have not spoken of it openly.
In the wake of a couple of statements from Colts, which have reflected their lack of interest in making a call first towards finding a solution for Peyton’s comeback, the talks around the possibility of the his move to another team has gained momentum.
Colts’ new general manager, Ryan Grigson, a day earlier, had said that they would wait for things to happen with regard to the negotiations with Manning, instead of taking an initiative on the issues, which are out of their control.
His remarks have made it certain that the team would not make any commitment to the player without having upfront guarantees about his health and fitness.
The remarks also fuelled the speculations that the player is increasingly becoming impossibility for Colts and will become an unrestricted free agent after the trade deadline of March 13, 2012.
It is most likely now that Colts will seek an extension to March 08, 2012 deadline of $28 million bonus payment to the player.
If the agreement is not reached then the player will become a free agent.
In such a scenario, many teams including the Miami Dolphins will capitalise on the opportunity to have the four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the side.
One thing is for sure that the player will be able to find a better position if released by Colts. It is his dire passion for the Indianapolis, which finds him the most convincing factor to keep him at the city.
