Manny Acta confident of achieving Cleveland Indians’ wins tally target
Manny Acta commented at a Town Hall meeting about Cleveland Indians’ plans for the upcoming season. The Cleveland Indians manager is hoping to bring more wins to the club and flip his luck as his job hangs in the balance.
Cleveland Indians are hoping for a change in their luck, following a beat down season in 2010. Finishing fifth in the American League Central in 2010, the attention from fans has died down over the winter break. Players in the
club were rumoured to be part of a trading activity, but that negative highlight on their recent conduct was taken for granted.
Acta has been looking for a way to keep the club on top of their game by setting short term goals for the players. With Shin-Soo Choo, Grady Sizemore and Carlos Santana in the squad, things can work well for the club. The manager,
however, has a bigger motive, which is to remain as the team manager for a longer period. His first year, 2010, as in charge of the Indians did not go so well, but now he is hoping for 100 wins in this season.
Nevertheless, with all the negativity grooming around Cleveland, Acta is looking on to the future with hope.
"I think there are a lot of positive things going on around here," he said after the Town Hall. "If you look at the other 29 clubs, a lot of clubs would have loved to have the success we had in the mid-90s and 2005 and 2007. It's
too bad a lot of people enjoy the negativity instead, and it's too bad they can't clone a million of me and put them in the middle of town."
Chris Antonetti, the general manager of the Indians, was able to talk of the situation prevailing in the club. He was responsible for bringing Manny in for the first year in 2010.
"It's exceptionally important for us to clearly articulate where we are as an organization and the belief we have in the future and explain why," said Antonetti. "I think Manny's an unbelievable spokesperson for that. He has the
ability to relate to people, he's always honest and upfront, and I think our fans relate to that."
