Manny Pacquiao: God wants me to retire – Boxing News
WBO Welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao has said that he has received visions from God asking him to retire from the sport. Manny Pacquiao, the Filipino fighter who is scheduled to take on undefeated American Timothy Bradley on June 9 at the MGM Grand in
Las Vegas, has taken a steep religious turn in life, which has irked many of his colleagues.
Expressing the vision, he said, “I will not stay long in boxing because he said: 'You have done enough. You have made yourself famous but this is harmful.” Pacquiao was in an interview with radio station DZMM when he said all this.
Pacquiao is regarded as the current top pound-for-pound boxer. He further added, “I will do my work inside the ring. When I speak, a lot of people listen.”
Previously, it was reported that Pacquiao has sold off his roosters since rooster fighting was against God’s will. Similarly, he also sold his casino shares in order to please God. Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s trainer, had revealed concerns over the Pac-Man’s
religious turn in life. According to Freddie Roach, Pacquiao does not want to hurt anyone whether in the ring or outside, since God does not want him to do so.
Manny Pacquiao will be facing Bradley, who is a tough enough fighter to give Pacquiao his life’s hardest match. However, the way Pacquiao has been behaving, it seems like Pacquiao is not really interested in beating Bradley, instead he wants to give it all
up. Bradley, in his last media interaction, stated, “They know that I am willing to go through h**l to win this fight…I am very surprised that this fight is actually happening. Honestly, I think that a lot of people feel that this is a very dangerous fight
for Manny.”
In other words, Bradley is all prepared to beat Pacquiao, whereas Pacquiao still seems to be in the religious trance. To make things even worse for the Filipino fighter, two recent controversies have sprung up against him. As for now, the Filipino eight-division
champion is shrouded with religious obligations and legal obligations, and there are doubts as to whether he will be able to prepare to the fullest against Bradley or not.
