Manny Pacquiao: God will be at the corner for me against Bradley – Boxing News
Manny Pacquiao, the current WBO welterweight champion, is training hard for his fight against Timothy Bradley on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. However, unlike his usual training routines, this time Pacquiao is training with God by his side. Pacquiao
was spotted reciting biblical verses while he was training in a park. When asked, the Filipino pride asserted that God has always been on his side which is why he has been able to earn eight world titles.
His exact words were, “Nothing has changed. I am still fully focused on training although now I am happier because I have God.
Pacquiao is currently in the northern mountain resort of Baguio, training for the fight. Chances are that fellow boxer Amir Khan will join Pacquiao as well, as indicated by the British-Pakistani boxer earlier.
When asked about Pacquiao’s training, his close associate Buboy Fernandez asserted that unbeaten American fighter Bradley has his own way of fighting and that he is good at head movement, which is something Pacquiao needs to train for. He added that Bradley
also has the skills of bending rules to his benefit, which can be a point of concern for the Filipino champion.
Manny Pacquiao will have his title on the line against Bradley. While most analysts have already rated Bradley as 3-1 underdog, Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s trainer, thinks Bradley is not an easy to catch fish. Therefore, he has previously asserted that Pacquiao
needs to be up to the mark in order to take down Bradley.
In addition, since Manny’s last three fights ended up in either major or split decisions, Roach thinks it is about time for Pacquiao to reach up to the level of knocking out his opponent. Pacquiao’s last fight against Juan Manuel Marquez ended up in a major
decision win for the Filipino, which according to Roach was not an impressive show. Roach, in his previous interview, has mentioned that the fight was a close one and that Manny now needs to pick up a ‘knock out’ fight style if he wants to defeat Bradley,
who unlike Marquez is an attacking fighter.
