Manny Pacquiao: I believe I am being reasonable – Boxing news
Manny Pacquiao has passed up on Floyd Mayweather’s ‘most novel’ proposal considering it to be absurd, he said on Wednesday.
He further added that Floyd Mayweather is insisting of taking the bigger bite of the revenue, which he thinks is a nonsensical way of persuading someone. According to him, it is best if both the fighters share the revenue equally.
Manny Pacquiao asserted that it is best if both the fighters share the revenue equally, since both of them are of equal stature. He revealed Mayweather called him up last week to explore the possibilities of the ‘super-fight’ and that he went down to offer
a 60/40 revenue share.
However, according to Manny, this is not a good enough offer to go for. He broke out saying that he will be looking for better opportunities where he is offered much better profit share, such as a possible rematch with Miguel Cotto for the scheduled June
9th ring appearance.
His last words to Fightnews and Manila Bulletin on Mayweather were, “I still believe that I am being reasonable in asking for 50/50.”
To Pacquiao’s dismay, Cotto has refused any possibilities of having a rematch with him. Cotto in a recent interview has said that he is not looking forward to fight at 147.
While talking to Boxing Scene, Miguel Cotto said that he is not ready to compromise on his physical well being to be in a fight with Manny Pacquiao again. The last fight between both, Cotto and Pacquiao, saw Manny brutally beating Cotto. The fight was stopped
in the 12th round, declaring Manny the winner. Cotto had given in everything he could in the initial rounds, but then he could not resist Pacquiao’s wrath.
Cotto currently holds the World Boxing Association championship. For a match with Pacquiao, Cotto asserted, “He had no problems dealing with Antonio Margarito at 150. He hasn't had problems with anyone regarding weight. With Joshua Clottey, they fought at
147. I drove down to 145. The rematch, I'm going to do it at my weight. I will not sacrifice my body again for the benefit of another boxer,” believing that it is about time for Manny to come to his level.
