Manny Pacquiao: I can fight. I can still fight – Boxing News
Manny Pacquiao’s controversial WBO welterweight title loss to Timothy Bradley has attracted enough outcry from all around the world. However, the Filipino fighter believes he is not discouraged and neither should his fans be. In his recent interview, the
Filipino icon urged his fans to believe in him and that he will bring the title back to his hometown.
“I hope you’re not dismayed or discouraged.” Pacquiao remarked. He added, “I can fight. I can still fight.”
Past Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Manny Pacquiao was in total control of the fight. His only mistake was that he did not go for a knockout, despite the fact that Bradley had injured his left ankle in round two and was flat-footed throughout the
fight. Probably, it was a blunder Pacquiao will remember for his entire life. Had he tried to knockout Bradley, the scores would have been different.
About the defeat, Pacquiao said, “That will make me become a warrior in the next few months because in the rematch my feeling is I don’t want to go the whole 12 rounds.”
It seems like the Filipino has finally learned his lesson, which will eventually bring his aggression back to the ring, something that was missing this time.
After the fight, Pacquiao notified that none of Bradley’s punches caused any damage to him. Even Bob Arum, who promotes both the fighters, believes that the decision was ridiculous. Arum said, “This is absurd and ridiculous and everyone involved in boxing
should be ashamed.”
When asked,  Bradley clarified his stance saying, “There’s three judges out there. What do you want me to do? Two of them felt I won the fight. That’s all that counts.”
Since most fans around the world believe that boxing is a dead sport now, especially after this fight, Pacquiao had to defend boxing by saying, “That’s how we love this boxing. In your heart you know I was winning the fight. But it’s okay. It’s part of the
game.”
As of now, nothing is sure as to whether Pacquiao will get a rematch or not. According to the contract, Pacquiao can anytime revoke the rematch clause.
