Manny Pacquiao: I will fight and train like the old Manny, the 25-year-old Manny – Boxing News
Filipino fight sensation Manny Pacquiao will be facing Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez for the fourth time on December 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Contrary to the usual, Pacquiao wants to end this fight with a knockout, something he has not done in ages.
The Filipino has finally realised that in order to stay the number 1 pound for pound fighter in the world, he needs to score a knockout victory over his nemesis Marquez.
“My focus this time is to go for the knockout,” said Pacquiao during a press conference held to promote the fight. “I am a good counter-puncher, too. But that makes for a boring fight. I want to make the fight exciting. I don't want the fans to be bored.”
Pacquiao has built a career out of scratch. He entered the world of boxing with nothing but just his natural talent and he went onto become the number one fighter in the world. Among all, Marquez has been the only hurdle in his career. He has fought Marquez
thrice but has never been able to defeat him in an impressive manner.
Pacquiao has defeated Marquez twice, once via majority decision and once via unanimous decision. The first encounter between the two ended up in a tie. Although Pacquiao stands as the better fighter, most analysts believe all three fights between them were
too close to be judged. In fact, some naysayers even believe that Pacquiao lost all three fights. Even Marquez is of the view that he won all the fights against Pacquiao.
While Pacquiao was talking about his strategy for the fight, Marquez asserted that he does not want to prove anything to anyone this time, as everyone knows he has beaten Pacquiao thrice. Pacquiao, on the other hand, believes it is time for him to be ferocious
once again.
“I need to be more aggressive in this fight. I want a win that isn't close like the last three. It has to be a decisive victory,” added the Filipino fighter who recently lost his WBO welterweight title to American fighter Timothy Bradley.
