Question:

Manny Pacquiao - Not as Hungry as ever!?

Could it be just me, or has anybody else noticed that our guy - the pacman, doesn't seem to be as aggressive like he used to be when he was yet to prove himself before the world?

Four or five years ago, he'd jump into a slugfest at the first sound of the bell. Has he forgotten that that is how he endeared himself with fight fans across the globe?

He couldn't have been cut in the eye. He couldn't have been hackneyed lots of times. It shouldn't have been a close fight resulting to a somewhat questonable split decision.

He could've just swarmed JMM with left and right punches, "in and out" like his trainers goaded him to do. "Attack! attack!!!" ...his trainers yelled. Even I noticed that JMM can't punch as accurate than when they're distant w/ each other when they're toe to toe. That's when he tagged JMM on the jaw...when they were toe to toe.

I don't know.......has he lost his aggressiveness, cause he feels he doesn't have to prove himself much anymore? That's a sad thought.

  1. he's getting old

  2. Me and my friend noticed that...we were wondering why in the h**l Manny didnt go ahead and knock out JMM.

  3. valcyril, where the h**l did you get 147lbs? Get your facts straight, man. Pacquiao's weigh in weight is 129lbs, Marquez 130lbs. If he was 147lbs then the belt would have been vacant. You cannot win the belt if you are over your weight class. That is as far as I know.

  4. I disagree. Manny has grown confident with the talent that he knows he has. It's sharpening those skills that he has that has made him a more well-rounded fighter. He used to be overconfident with his power and evasiveness but Freddy Roach has done a great job in toning it down a few notches resulting in Pacquiao being more of disciplined boxer. Pacman could still slug it out if he wanted too. No doubt about that. BUT, I think as he's grown with the business of boxing he's become more of an accurate hitman rather than just an aggressive slugger.

That's one thing about Manny. He can change up his style (for better or for worst) in such a dramatic fashion leaving his opponents confused on how to figure him out. He's that d**n good. Now, like I said, he has to keep practicing on sharpening those skills.

  5. He lost some of his mobility, his fighting weight has move up to 147 lbs during the time of fight from 129 lbs during weigh in. His performance was somehow downgraded. Still, his knocking down of Marquez is just enough to win the fight but not to really dominate Marquez.

  6. That's the game plan set by Freddie Roach.Manny is still hungry but Marquez is a good counter puncher. Manny was cautious and cannot afford being careless in the fight. However, Manny landed a hard left hook on Marquez jaw w/c floored Marquez and even didnt know his corner when the bell saved him in Round 3.

  7. after manny knocked him down, he knew that marquez was dangerous enough to hurt manny if he left himself open trying to knock marquez out with a big shot so he played it safe.

  8. Manny pac seemed just as hungry as ever to me in the fight , Marquez is just that good hes not gonna lay down for him. Also Manny did weigh 145 lbs for the fight , you can put on as much weight as u can handle on for the fight long as the day before the fight u make the weight for your class at the weigh in.  So yeah manny put on about 16 lbs over night probably the heaviest hes ever came into the ring.

  9. I notice that too. After he knock down jmm on the 3rd. We were expecting him to go after jmm on the fourth. He did seem like he was lacking hunger. It was a good fight but I was disappointed that he changed his way. He is exceptionally good when he is being his unorthodox way. Like Rocky on Apollo Creed. He showed boxing last night instead of his heart. Unlike the fight between Morales and Barera.

  10. It's cause he learned how to box. He used to be crazy and awesome, but all he had was a left offence. I don't know if you've saw the pacquiao marquez 2, but if you did you'd notice he is not only not as aggressive, but now he also can counter, has a decent right, and has minimized his "dinosaur walking"
