Manny Pacquiao: Training camp has been going great – Boxing News
Former WBO welterweight titlist Manny Pacquiao is hoping to defeat Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez via knockout in his upcoming fight on December 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao will be facing Marquez for the fourth time to decide who the better
fighter is. Even though the Filipino had defeated Marquez thrice, he has not given fans and analysts solid victories to believe he is better than the Mexican.
As of now, Pacquiao is hoping to score a knockout against Marquez, even though he knows it will be tough.
“Training camp has been going great. I have really been training hard for this fight,” said Pacquiao in an international teleconference held on Monday with trainer Freddie Roach and promoter Bob Arum with him.
When asked if he is looking for a knockout win against Marquez, Pacquiao asserted that he is only looking forward to be aggressive in the ring against Marquez.
“Right now my mind is focused on being more aggressive for this fight. If there is a chance in the ring during the fight, why not make the fight easy (knock him out) if I have the opportunity?” he added.
On the other hand, Roach spoke about Pacquiao’s last encounter with Marquez, asserting that Marquez was slow last time which is why they are trying to be faster than him.
“The thing is Marquez fought the fight at a slow pace the last time. We plan to fight the fight at a much faster pace this time like we did in the first fight in the early rounds – that’s where we had the most success,” he added.
Roach asserted that they are looking forward to fight against Marquez at a much faster pace this time.
When asked if he as any sort of relationship with Marquez outside the ring, Pacquiao replied in negative, saying that they both do their jobs in the ring. Pacquiao asserted that he has never hated his opponents outside the ring, no matter how much they hate
him.
Pacquiao will take on Marquez to ensure he grabs a victory and ends the rivalry forever.
