Manny Pacquiao acts as father of the bride in advisor’s wedding
Boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao, a seven-division champion, Philippine congressman and best-selling singer, now has another title to add to his list: father of the bride.
Pacquiao acted as father of the bride in the wedding of his Canadian advisor, Michael Koncz, Tuesday night in Baguio City, Philippines.
Manny escorted the Filipino-American Rachel Batimana to the altar in the closed-door wedding service, held at the Baguio Manor Hotel.
Though he tested his body in training most of the day, Pacquiao still had enough steam to fetch Batimana from her bridal chamber, and play host after the official ceremony. He entertained guests by singing and dancing alongside his backing Manny Pacquiao
band.
Included on the guest list were Pacquiao’s wife Jinkee, and Top Rank chief Bob Arum and daughter Dena Duboef.
Koncz confirmed that following Pacquiao’s November 13 bout against Antonio Margarito he will have a second wedding reception.
The Canadian has been Manny’s top advisor, insuring a successful a public relations presence for Pacquiao in North America while he is in the Philippines.
Koncz has often come up in opposition to Freddie Roach in Pacquiao headlines, as the two are said to be at loggerheads over a number of issues. Roach is Pacquiao’s hall-of-fame trainer, in whom Pacquiao has put his faith and allegiance.
Pacquiao is a heavy favourite for his upcoming bout against Margarito, which will take place at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The fight expects to host over 70,000 fans. Pacquiao will be looking to win his eighth world title in as many divisions,
a feat hitherto unprecedented in professional boxing.
In recent days Pacquiao has upgraded his training efforts in a bid to get the most out of the high altitudes of Baguio City, after which Pacquiao’s team will move to Los Angeles to complete the rest of training camp at Roach’s Wild Card boxing gym.
