Manny Pacquiao and Bob Arum’s meeting ends with no decision – Boxing News
Top Rank’s Bob Arum flew to the Philippines to meet Manny Pacquiao regarding his next fight’s opponent. Both of them met in General Santos City yesterday but could not reach to a decision yet.
“We had a very good discussion,” said Mike Koncz, Pacquiao’s chief advisor who was present at the meeting. The meeting took lasted for more than two hours, starting at noon.
When asked if Arum and Pacquiao could reach a conclusion, Koncz revealed, “But we haven’t made any decision.”
Unfortunately, this was another meeting of Arum with Pacquiao that ended with no decisions. Fans, who were eagerly waiting to hear whom the Filipino fighter wants to face next, are yet again disappointed knowing he has not made a decision yet.
Moreover, adding fuel to fire, Koncz shrugged off the possibility of Pacquiao facing WBC welterweight titlist Floyd Mayweather this year. When asked as to what Pacquiao’s options were during the meeting, he revealed, “The same three people,” referring to
Timothy Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez and Miguel Cotto.
Bob Arum is currently trying to convince Manny Pacquiao to lock horns with either Miguel Cotto or Juan Manuel Marquez. However, the Filipino pound-for-pound king is more eager towards facing Timothy Bradley in a title rematch on November 10.
Pacquiao lost his WBO welterweight title to Bradley on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas via controversial split decision. Since then, the Filipino proud has been restless, trying to get his hands on the unbeaten American once again. Pacquiao has already
promised his fans that he will bring the title back home and so he wants Bradley.
On the possibility of fourth showdown against Juan Manuel Marquez, Pacquiao has already stated that he has been there and done that, therefore he needs no more matches against Marquez. Marquez camp, however, is trying to put the best possible proposal to
the Filipino to make him agree to fight.
Arum believes a match against Miguel Cotto or Juan Manuel Marquez would be more profitable compared to a fight against Bradley. However, he insists that he will not pressurize the former champion into a decision and will leave up to Pacquiao to decide his
opponent.
