Manny Pacquiao believes Ricky Hatton is making a blunder by coming back – Boxing News
Former WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao believes Briton fighter Ricky Hatton is making a huge mistake by coming back to the boxing scene. According to Pacquiao, once you retire, you should not coming and that is not something he is planning to do.
“I do not think it is a good idea to come back once a fighter has retired. It’s not something I plan on doing,” said Pacquiao, as quoted by Daily Express.
“I know how hard it is to get back into good boxing shape after being out of the training camp for only three or four months,” he added.
“I cannot imagine what it is like after a number of years.”
“It’s not just the conditioning, it’s the reflexes, legs, mental conditioning, and so much more.
“But this is Ricky’s decision to make and I respect him for it.”
It should be noted here that while Pacquiao says he respects Hatton, the latter probably does not feel the same towards the Filipino. Pacquiao was the one to finish Hatton’s career three years back. Pacquiao knocked out Hatton in the second round of their
bout, forcing the Briton to retire from the sport.
According to Pacquiao, Hatton’s fight against Senchenko is a mistake on the Briton’s end.
On the other hand, Hatton is of the view that he needs to make a comeback in order to redeem himself. Hatton has time and again asserted that he has gone through a tough time trying to cope up with the fact that his career was ended at the hands of Pacquiao.
Hatton has also indicated towards a rematch against Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., both fighters contributed towards the destruction of his career.
For now, Hatton believes he can once again become Briton’s number one fighter. He is currently focused on beating Senchenko. Hatton has revealed plans of facing WBA welterweight titlist Paulie Malignaggi next year.
On the other hand, Pacquiao will face Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez on December 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to decide which man is better in the ring for the final time.
