Manny Pacquiao considering retirement after Timothy Bradley showdown – Boxing news
Sources have revealed that Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley might be the former’s last match since he is considering retirement.
Manny Pacquiao’s recent involvement with the Church of Philippines to become the Bible Ambassador has brought about many changes in him, among which the most prominent one is that he wants to spend most of time in religious activities.
During the previous weeks, we saw Manny Pacquiao quitting gambling, cockfighting and other similar activities. He revealed that he does not want to be associated with any form of gambling. He sold shares he owned of a casino in Manila and agave away his
roosters to his friends.
According to reports, Manny had more than a 1,000 roosters which had an accumulated worth of $700,000. When asked about his decision, Manny iterated, “I have found my real peace and happiness now. I draw strength and inspiration from reading and hearing
the word of God.”
Surprisingly, Manny also sold his entertainment bar J-Mix to show his devotion towards biblical commands. Manny revealed that the passion for God in him started stirring after the bout with Juan Manuel Marquez in November. He indulged himself in biblical
study so much that the Catholic Bishops Conference of Bible of Philippines offered him to become the Bible Ambassador.
As of now, there are reports of Manny quitting after his match with Timothy Bradley, which is scheduled to take place on June 9, MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The fight was confirmed last week by both the fighters and was announced by Michael Koncz, Pacquiao's
adviser.
In his press statement, he said, “From our end, the fight is done. I just got off the phone with (Top Rank's) Bob Arum and Manny, so we're done. I don't assume there will be a problem from the Bradley side. We came to terms with Top Rank on the fight and
Manny has approved everything. This morning I had a number of conversations with Bob negotiating the June 9 fight and I relayed everything to Manny.”
There is nothing sure as to whether Manny will retire or not but seems like he is planning it out.
