Manny Pacquiao demands a rematch against Timothy Bradley – Boxing News
After the World Boxing Organisation declared Manny Pacquiao winner of the Pacquiao vs. Bradley bout, the Filipino pride is eager to get his hands on the new WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley once again. In his recent media interaction, Pacquiao revealed
that he would prefer fighting Bradley to get the title instead of the unbeaten American giving up his title. Pacquiao pledged his supporters to stay calm and believe in him, as he will bring the title back home.
“My supporters shouldn't worry. We're going to get that title,” Pacquiao said.
The World Boxing Organisation announced earlier last week that it would review the fight to determine as to whether Pacquiao had actually won the fight, as it was being claimed by most fighters, analysts and fans. Five international judges were brought on
the panel to review the fight and score it. Yesterday, the organisation revealed its scorecards for the fight with the scores being 118-110, 117-111, 117-111, 116-112, 115-113.
In other words, not even one judge had Bradley has the winner, unlike the ones who were at the ringside. Bradley won the bout against Pacquiao via split decision. The results soon became controversial, with crowd booing while Bradley was being interviewed.
Even the new WBO welterweight champion himself was not sure of the fight’s result. Bradley said that he will go home and review the fight to see whether he won or not. However, later on, the unbeaten American spoke to his fans saying he indeed had beaten the
world’s most explosive fighter.
After the results were revealed, President of the World Boxing Organisation Paco Valcarcel revealed that these findings will only be taken up for a rematch and not for revoking the actual results. He added, “We can’t change the result but we did this review
for two reasons. “If they want to make a rematch, we will approve the rematch and if they don’t we will order one. Also, we wanted to show (the Nevada State Athletic Commission) that they could bring in other officials from outside of Nevada who can also do
a fine job judging fights. It’s good to have different officials.”
