Manny Pacquiao denies divorce with his wife – Boxing News
Last week, Freddie Roach reportedly claimed that Manny Pacquiao’s under par performance against Juan Manuel Marquez was due to his domestic problems and at the eve of the match Pacquiao’s wife gave him divorce papers. However, the Filipino pride refuses
any such event occurring. In his recent interview, Pacquiao said that he did not receive any divorce papers from his wife and his family life has always been superb.
As of now, even Freddie Roach is denying that he said any such thing against Pacquiao. LA Times reported Roach saying, “All the distractions caught up to Manny in his last fight,” but Roach says he never came up with such stuff. He defended himself saying,
“I never said that in my life, but someone wrote it, and someone lied. I said I knew him (Manny) and his wife weren’t getting along before the fight, but I never said that. The thing is, we did have a bad week before the last fight and everything kind of
fell apart and a lot of distractions, and he’s got rid of all those distractions and now everything is smooth.”
Manny Pacquiao is currently in Los Angeles, preparing for his mega-bout against Timothy Bradley, scheduled for June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao finds it disturbing for LA Times to report such a comment, which Roach never iterated. Since Roach
and Pacquiao share a very close bond, they have been associated for long, Pacquiao believes in Roach. Pacquiao thinks Roach can never come up making such remarks.
Last week, LA Times reported Roach saying that his family issues had taken him over which impeded him from training well for the fight against Marquez. Even though Pacquiao won the fight, most analysts thought that Pacquiao’s performance was not as great
as expected.
As for now, Pacquiao wants to knock out Bradley on June 9 to prove his mettle once again to the naysayers. Even Roach said previously that he would train Pacquiao to knock out Bradley in order to show his supremacy to the world. If Pacquiao is able to knock
out Bradley, he definitely will reign as the pound-for-pound king.
