Manny Pacquiao extends training camp date – Boxing News
Former WBO welterweight titlist Manny Pacquiao does not seem interested in scoring a victory over Juan Manuel Marquez, at least that is what his fans are fearing. The Filipino fight king was previously scheduled to start his training camp in Santos City
in the early weeks of October, but now he has postponed it to October 27, 2012.
Pacquiao’s legal counsel Franklin Gacal contradicted, saying that the Filipino will be leaving for Los Angeles to train under Freddie Roach.
It should be noted here that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has finally spoken harsh regarding the Filipino pride, who has been Arum’s biggest draw to date.
“Manny has to decide whether he is a boxer or he’s a politician. I would like for the next two months for him to be a boxer and then the politics will take care of itself when he finishes the fight with Marquez. But that’s up to him,” said Arum in an interview
with http://www.philboxing.com.
It seems like Arum is furious over Pacquiao for allowing his fights to be ignored due to his political ambitions. Arum, who has always claimed Pacquiao has his best fighter, believes Pacquiao is being unjust to himself by being confused between being a politician
and being a boxer.
For now, Pacquiao is scheduled to face Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez on December 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It will be the fourth fight between the two fighters. The first fight was a tie while the following two were won by Pacquiao via unanimous decision
and majority decision.
This time, Pacquiao has promised fans to score a knockout over Marquez but Arum seems to be doubting it. The way Pacquiao is handling things, it seems like the Filipino is not taking Marquez seriously. It should be noted here that the last fight ended in
a controversial decision. Although Pacquiao won, it was the first time fans booed for him.
To most analysts and fans, Marquez had won the fight and the judges were unjust in declaring Pacquiao the winner. Now, they are hoping for Pacquiao to make a statement by defeating Marquez in a dominant manner.
