Manny Pacquiao files lawsuit against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Roger Mayweather – Boxing news
Manny Pacquiao, WBO Welterweight Champion, has filed a lawsuit against Roger Mayweather and his nephew Floyd Mayweather Jr. for defamation.
Long time rivals Mayweather and Pacquiao will now be face to face with each other in the court.
Manny Pacquiao arrived in the US on Friday night, February 17, 2012, for the promotion of his match against Timothy Bradley on June 9. He will be on a two-city tour with his upcoming opponent Timothy Bradley to promote the fight.
Pacquiao’s lawsuit was based on Roger Mayweather and Floyd Mayweather’s recent comments on the fighter. Floyd Mayweather has been racially targeting Manny but this time both of them went just a bit too far. Roger Mayweather claimed that Manny Pacquiao uses
drugs to enhance his stamina and power while fighting.
Manny’s lawsuit is purely based on this one comment that has irked him the most. Manny’s manager Michael Koncz said, “We started the deposition at ten o’ clock (Friday in US). From all indications it’s going very well. Manny is very comfortable in there
and we expect the deposition to go until late tonight.”
He further said, “They (Mayweathers) made an accusation against Manny for using enhancement drugs which we never use. So it’s going to be up to the lawyers to present that to the jury and the jury to make the determination.”
According to Koncz, by the next year they will be ready to go on trial.
Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are two of the most electrifying fighters in the world of boxing. Fans of both the sides have eagerly waited for both of them to come face to face with each other. There were speculations of both of them fighting on May
5, but it did not happen. According to Bob Arum, Manny’s promoter, the fight will happen somewhere in November.
For now, fans should be excited knowing that both the fighters are in a brawl, if not in the ring then at least in the court. Manny Pacquiao is quite angry over Roger’s comments and he sure is going to take him down provided he gets all his facts straight.
