Manny Pacquiao has still not signed the contract with Juan Manuel Marquez – Boxing reports
It has been reported that the Fighting Pride of Philippines Manny Pacquiao has still not signed the contract for the trilogy fight with the current World Boxing Association’s, World Boxing Organisation’s and the Ring Magazine’s Lightweight World Champion
Juan Manuel Marquez.
The eight-division world champion and the World Boxing Organisation’s Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion), Manny Pacquiao, is set to take on the Dinamita, Juan Manuel Marquez, for the third time on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las
Vegas.
Even though the tickets for this mega showdown have nearly been sold out, reports have surfaced which suggest that the fight is still unconfirmed.
“VisionQwest denied the contract with Top Rank regarding Marquez. Bob is selling tickets to an event that Manny has not even signed a contract for,” according to a source close to the deal.
The source added the contract has been denied as Pacquiao’s firm has recommended him to turn down the offer as they do not seem to be happy with the $20 million purse. The main reason is the five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather who makes more money.
“They turned down the $20 million guarantee. I think comparing his purses to what Mayweather is making helps them realize that Manny deserves better,” the source added.
The writer, Ben Thompson, however reckons the eagerly awaited fight between two of the boxing’s best will happen.
Thompson stated that Top Rank chief Bob Arum knows all about the problem and he certainly will do something to make this fight happen.
While speaking on his inclusion, Thompson remarked, “Tickets have sold briskly for Pacquiao's 3rd bout with Marquez; we're quite sure that Bob Arum will do whatever is necessary to make sure that contract is signed.”
The Pacman, Pacquiao, has won against Marquez only once as their first bout, back in 2004, ended up in a draw. Therefore, there will be a huge fan base for both pugilists in this fight so let’s hope Arum resolves all problems soon, as people desperately
want to see both fighters in the ring again.
