Manny Pacquiao impresses Freddie Roach in his training camp – Boxing news
The trainer of eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, Freddie Roach is a man who does not normally pass any misleading statement for the opposition.
The Fighting Pride of the Philippines has been found to be very impressive during his training session in Hollywood to prepare for his bout against Shane Mosley at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas on May 7, 2011.
According to his trainer, Roach, it was his best-ever training camp that could prove to be the biggest threat for his opponent.
The pound-for-pound champion did not look very focused on boxing for quite a while because recently he was busy in the US with his wife to meet President Barack Obama in the White House. Meanwhile, he is also dealing with his legal battles.
In his Wild Card Gym, Roach said on Wednesday, “He hasn't lost a step. He's working at a higher pace than ever; he's not in the same condition as the last fight. He's in better condition than I've ever seen. He isn't going to get caught underestimating anybody.”
Pacquiao was found to be in a fabulous form, 100 percent fit and focused throughout the camp.
The strength-and-conditioning coach of Pacquiao, Alex Ariza is very confident to win this bout against Mosley looking at the mental and physical conditions of Pacquiao. They believe that Pacquiao can easily stop Mosley, who has never been stopped by anyone
in his professional boxing career before.
Ariza said, “It's the complete opposite side of the spectrum this time, I've never seen Manny more motivated. I thought (the camp before Pacquiao's victory over Miguel) Cotto was the perfect blueprint for a training camp, but this has surpassed it.”
Recently, Pacquiao impressed many of his fans and proved to be a fast puncher showing his hand speed to his trainer Roach in the sparring session.
Pacquiao does not share some fans’ disappointment with Top Rank’s choice of his latest opponent. Mosley, who turns 40 in September, could be the best choice as Pacquiao’s next opponent because he has been found to be struggling in his last two fights against
Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Sergio Mora.
