Manny Pacquiao knocked out cold by Marquez – Boxing News
After ruling almost five rounds of the fight, Filipino fight king Manny Pacquiao suffered a shocking knockout loss to nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez. The fight that started off with the Filipino being the oppressor, saw Marquez finally standing tall in the
ring, with Pacquiao lying face flat on the canvas.
The sight was a shocking one to boxing fans, even to Marquez’s fans, as no one expected the eight division world champion to fall. For Pacquiao fans around the globe, the appalling sight came at a point when the Filipino was outrageously beating Marquez,
making everyone expect that a knockout win is close by. Unfortunately, Pacquiao made the biggest blunder of his career by walking into Marquez’s trap.
During the first round, both fighters are explosive, but as always it was Pacquiao who set the pace of the bout. Huge blows, hooks and swings were in the ring, and Pacquiao won the first round.
During the second round came the first unbelievable sight, when Marquez knocked down Pacquiao for the first time in their four fights. However, the Filipino managed to get back in the fight without any hesitation. Unexpectedly, Pacquiao was not staggering
in the ring like usually fighters would.
The third round was a balanced one but by the end Pacquiao made it a mark to score better against Marquez by once again landing power blows. By this time, Pacquiao was 2-1 and was leading the show.
The fourth round was a delight for Pac-man fans as the Filipino knocked down Marquez for the first time in the fight, but the Mexican rose back. Pacquiao won the round making the fight 3-1.
By now, Marquez was losing on every scorecard and supposedly, Pacquiao was once again on his way to score another unanimous victory. The fifth round had the Filipino bashing Marquez to the extent where the Mexican bled. Pacquiao was high and aggressive and
all Marquez could do was to resist.
The sixth round started with the former WBO champion bombarding Marquez with his left hooks, and the junior light welterweight titlist was only resisting. This is when the surprise came in, something no one expected. Pacquiao ran into Marquez and got hit
with a 2-inch power blow. He hit the mat, motionless and never got back up until the medics arrived. Marquez won the show and for him it was justice served.
