Manny Pacquiao says beating Juan Manuel Marquez is a must for him – Boxing news
Manny ‘Pac-Man’ Pacquiao, who is an eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion), has revealed that beating the current World Boxing Association Super, World Boxing Organisation and
the Ring Lightweight World Champion, Juan Manuel Marquez, is a must for him.
The Fighting Pride of Philippines, Pacquiao, will take on his most fierce rival, Marquez, in their much-anticipated trilogy fight on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is going to be the concluding contest between both pugilists
and therefore Pacquiao knows the importance of the fight.
Pacquiao, who holds a record of winning 53 of his 58 professional fights (2 Draws), with 38 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, told the media winning Marquez is a must for him, as he stated he wants to clear all doubts.
“Because it’s our third fight — our last fight — I have to end all the issues, all the doubts in people’s minds about beating him,” said Pacquiao in an interview to
Los Angeles Times. “You always hear me say I want to make people happy, make people satisfied with my fights.”
In the end, Pacquiao also commented on his possible super-fight with the five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion, Floyd Mayweather.
Pacquiao remarked he has no problems in fighting anyone after Marquez but on the same note, he said Mayweather will have to show he wants to take him on.
He said, “Whoever I have to fight the rest of my career, I’m happy and satisfied with what I’ve done. I don’t need to be looking for, or chasing, a fight. I want the fight, but I cannot force him to take it. He has to show he wants to fight me.”
The undefeated American legend, Floyd Mayweather, who holds an incredible record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, with 26 of them coming by the way of a knockout, wants Pacquiao to agree for Olympic-style blood testing whereas Pacquiao believes
giving blood an hour prior to the bout will affect his stamina.
However, let’s see if both these warriors somehow come close and sign a contract.
