Manny Pacquiao says he does not want to be nicknamed the ‘Mexicutioner’ – Boxing news
Manny Pacquiao, who is an eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion), has publicised that he doesn’t want people to call him ‘Mexicutioner’, as the Pac-Man insisted he loves Mexican boxing fans and this nickname doesn’t reflect his true feeling about them.
Pacquiao said to ringtv, “I do not like the nickname “Mexicutioner.” I love the Mexican boxing fans and that name does not reflect my true feelings about Mexico and its people.”
The Fighting Pride of Philippines, Pacquiao, is set to take on the Mexican Dinamita, Juan Manuel Marquez, in their much-anticipated trilogy fight on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and Pacquiao has admitted Marquez is the toughest opponent he has ever faced in the ring thus far.
The 32-year-old Pacquiao, who carries a record of winning 53 of his 58 professional fights (2 Draws), with 38 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, stated Marquez always comes in a very good shape and he is the only fighter who has been able to figure out his fighting style.
“I know what Juan Manuel Marquez is capable of. He is one of the toughest opponents I have ever fought and I have a great deal of respect for his abilities. He is always in shape and very strong. He is the only fighter who has ever figured out my style of fighting.”
In the end, the current pound-for-pound best in the world, Pacquiao, remarked he is looking forward to be a different fighter in this fight.
“My main concern is how I prepare for this fight. How I can be better and different from my previous fights with him?”
Pacquiao and Marquez are going to be facing each other for the third time. The first time they met was back in May 2004 and their fight ended up a highly controversial draw. Their second meeting, which came four years later in March 2008, also had a controversial ending as this time Pacquiao won the fight via split decision. Therefore it is fair to say that their upcoming fight will certainly have all the hallmarks of being an absolute classic.
